Back for ’09!

Posted in The Site on January 14th, 2009 by admin – 1 Comment

So, the site has been pretty quiet lately, I do apologize for that. Between the holidays, personal projects and insane work (re:dayjob) deadlines, time hasn’t been something I’ve had a lot of.

Don’t fear: we aren’t dead in the water! I’m still here and commited to bringing you some awesome scripts and cool stuff in ’09.

However, I am likely moving over to a bi-weekly release schedule. Going weekly might have proven to be a bit more ambitious than I’d actually realized– So, from here on out we’ll be updating twice a month with scripts and a spattering of “Panel 1″ article throughout.

Glad to have you all on board, let’s have a fantastic 2009!!

Best,

Tim

New Landing Page!

I know most of you probably directly link to this page, or the Scripts page– and if so, you’ve probably missed out on our awesome new landing page!

Designed and donated by Tony Fleecs!
By the way, Tony is the writer and artist of a book called: “In My Lifetime”, which I highly recommend. You can pick it up here.
If my endorsement isn’t good enough, here’s Warren Ellis:

“Brave, brilliantly observed comedy, and the first autobio comic in years that hasn’t made me want to punch the author in the stomach.”

So, big thanks to Tony, for designing our new front page! It looks awesome!

Stay tuned tomorrow: It’s NEW SCRIPT DAY! I’ve got an awesome 2-pack lined up for tomorrow, and in the weeks ahead: Your. Mind. Will. Be. Blown.

New Home for the Comic Book Script Archive!

Posted in The Site on October 11th, 2008 by admin – 3 Comments

Welcome to our new digs! This has been long overdue, but at long last, here we are: www.comicbookscriptarchive.com!

There were many reasons for moving off the Googlepage, but the largest factor was simply the URL. Let’s face it, a google page address is just not as easy to remember as a dot com.

In terms of functionality, the biggest change to the site is that we’re moving over to a blog format. Don’t worry, I’m not planning on posting pictures of cats saying “oh hai!”– The wordpress format was suggested to me by Caleb Monroe , who runs an excellent site featuring a comic “creator help” section. I highly recommend you bookmark it!

Along with our move to a blog format comes updates! I’ve backlogged a number of really (REALLY) cool things for you guys and will be releasing them weekly. Currently, I’m aiming for Fridays Wednesday (new comic day!) by 12pm PST. There will likely be minor updates throughout the week, but Friday Wednesday will be the drop-day for scripts.

The scripts are located on a page that you’ll find by clicking the “Scripts” tab at the top.

On a technical note, I’m a WordPress newbie. So, expect the site to be a bit wonky as I get my legs. I would like to thank DJ Coffman, whose excellent “Host your own Webcomic” article served as the template for this site.
My site building skills hover somewhere around “monkey with a hammer” levels, so please be patient as I figure all this stuff out. If you’ve got suggestions, or find anything broken, please let me know!

I also have some very cool ideas on expanding the scope of this site- Interviews, Q&A sessions, How-To’s, and a few running segments. I can’t wait for you guys to see some of this stuff.

Lastly, thanks to all of you. I started the original site on a whim while bored one day, to see it grow to what it has become is very unexpected. Thank you for the nice emails, thank you for uncovering scripts for me, thanks to the pros who have provided me with their own scripts, and thanks to all of you for being comic nerds with a passion for the process.

You guys rock!

Best.

Tim
